When you think you know the whole story…

You have missed the big picture!

What’s the old saying?

Judge lest ye be judged.

It is easy to cast stones and follow the group thought, especially when it benefits you. There is nothing astounding or impressive by following the crowd because it is safer than upsetting the powers that be. A life of swallowing real feelings, choking on your own compromised soul.

Age brings a particular wisdom that youthful fears bind, speaking from direct experience. I do not possess a fear of fitting in at the stage of life where there are less days than more left on the horizon.

Taking a stand based on your personal needs and values which differs from the crowd takes a strong sense of self. And even more, a belief in yourself and your ability to create and sustain. Take heart knowing that though you may have to start from scratch, the foundation will be not be built upon compromise. And that is indestructible.

It is easy to feel powerful when people are cheering you on and visibly in your corner. Remove the support you rely upon to keep you propped up and it collapses.

Though there may be a few bad apples who revel in the perceived failures of others, they do not know the secret battles you win in private. How you have learned to dig even deeper, dust off and get back up in the face of those who root for you to fall.

So when you think you know the whole story… I promise you do not.

Don’t ever shrink your light in order to fall in line and accept less than you deserve or more importantly, less than you give.
