It IS your Soul.
It’s Monday and the theme today is “In the Margins.” In the Margins Monday… I like it.
The Gold is in the Margins: A Monday Ritual
I have a bin full of journals. Along with a few shelves full of my mental unravelings, premises, fully formed-gift from the comedy god’s- jokes, unpublished 60-100 paged…thingy’s…big black paper clipped stacks… extolling on whatever my process was at the time. Reiki. My father. Comedy life. My journals though, those, I write daily. Imperative for my sanity, to expel wisdom from the ethers, from whomever answers me when I ask questions.
I don’t know another way to filter and unpack what life brings you…the good, the bad, the totality. Surely, I’d be even more of an acquired taste if I didn’t have this outlet in which to unfurl with my naked thoughts that no one will ever read because I write in cursive, and they no longer teach that.
I say all that to say this…you would find, should you venture to read a journal of mine dating from the 1900’s…that is so funny for my generation to hear because it refers to an even more ancient time than the one being referenced by the GenZ ‘s and so on. Anyway…you would find the crazy is in the middle but the gold is in the margins. All the ideas, the premises, the wisdom, the insights in real time for that day are jotted down in the margins. Because I know right where I left that thought, that life saving, game changing, slice of insight to carry to the next moment. Now more than ever out of necessity, because I don’t have enough human RAM space left to store random thoughts and the good ones I never wanted to lose, so that’s where they have been deposited.
Over the years, I had become very disciplined in writing down the funny stuff in the margins which still pays off with constantly new material. So I go back and revisit the margins often to gussy them up and bring them on stage, or cross off, one by one, the to do lists for the day that inevitably build whilst I sip on my delectable morning espresso, complete with homemade cashew milk…yeah, I know. My life begins each day with this gorgeous, can’t get enough… sip followed by a puking out of the thoughts that greet me upon waking. But never have I used the little gems of navigation that I have accumulated along my 55 years and intentionally placed in the margins of my journals, like buried treasure I’d go back and recover someday. I knew that treasure chest would be put to test (use) sure as I jest.. with the jokes found in that same chest…ok I ran with it. Not everything is a win. And that is ok. And that is the actual win.
Aaaaaaaanywaaaaay….back to the point.
Here it begins… In the Margins Mondays…my pearls of wisdom for you to use or scroll past at your leisure.
Why Your Inner Child is Not an Aspect of Your Soul
I do not recall which youtube channel I was listening to and who expressed this thought… but it was blew my mind. And changed my perspective so much so that I found it three times written in the margins. So I shall pose it to you to ponder as I did.
What if your inner child isn’t an ASPECT of your soul but it IS your soul. It is the spirit in which your vehicle (body) wishes to operate from…the most fertile soil in which to cultivate a life in congruence with the design of the manufacturer. Leading to a life experience of alignment and prosperity and fulfillment. Rather than the life experience we are told to settle for. One designed to reposit all our joys of living into our retirement years.
Moving Past the Psychology: Removing the Quotation Marks
Not only do modern day social norms default you to ignoring that urge, impulse, voice from the most original source of who you are, but should you be enlightened enough to be aware of your “inner child” as even having an audible voice, even if at a whisper, the inner child is still a concept contained within quotation marks.Whereas this thought I heard then supposes even that awareness
diminishes YOU in total in your waking, day to day, meaningless in that case, life. Is keeping your inner child in quotes only part of the awakening?
I say, yes, which is to imply then that the inner child is but a sliver of who you are as a human being in today’s world. You are a grown human being and therefore do not act as a child acts. Wherein, I surmise, that sets in the death of your physical body, as you are using the machinery in environments (mental and/or physical) it was not designed to navigate and thrive in. And that there, friend, is to imply if you hear and long for whatever that “inner child” is begging you to play with, entertain yourself with, explore your world with…that prompting IS the voice to listen to and follow. It is YOU. It is the most YOU that you could ever listen to and validate. That YOU will lead you out of the darkness and into the place where both, you and YOU, knew once and simultaneously experienced the wonder of life and the magic in living it. A time, a reference point, where existed an untarnished expectation of the creation power inherent in your machinery. A point in which you approached life with an unwarranted zest for the imaginary. A perspective that was shushed, shamed and eventually relegated to running on whisper mode and ever further demoted in the system upgrades. It, however, was never lost in the equipment.
I urge you to no longer marginalize the voice of your inner child. I further propose that you remove the inner child from the quotation marks. And instead approach your day through those eyes…through that spirit, where life still holds potential and YOU still generate miracles. The inner child is not just THERE. The inner child IS.
Go play!
